From an early age, Martin developed a keen interest in wildlife and the British countryside. He has traveled the world and started painting birds in 1976 whilst in New Zealand. He returned to the UK in 1978 and is now a highly successful designer and illustrator.
Martin specialises in all types of birds including game birds, land and sea birds and birds of prey. Martin prefers the detailed 'classic' style of representation, focusing on the subject itself rather than its surroundings. The birds he paints are sometimes threatening, often humorous, yet always pleasing.
Although he has only been dedicated to painting birds. Martin has realised a highly personal style that is both refined and accurate in its execution. The draftsmanship and precision with which he brings his subjects to life make him one of the few wildlife painters who both deserve and demand attention.
