Richard trained as a commercial artist at the west of England Academy of Art prior to working for ES and A Robinson, one of Britain's largest lithographic printing companies.
Subsequently, he spent over thirty years as a Senior Executive in marketing and advertising with several major UK and international companies.
In 2000, he retired from the Cotswolds to the Solent enabling him to take up painting once again and to pursue his passion for sailing and the sea. This passion is evident from his use of bright colours , combined with a very 'fluid' style.
Richard paints both boats and coastal scenes in watercolour and in oil.
He has exhibited with the Maritime Art Group here in Hampshire, at Southampton Art Gallery at the Titanic Centenary Exhibition, at St. Barbe in Lymington, plus many other local venues.
