I was born in Warwickshire, but spent most of my adult life in Norfolk. I moved to Verwood in beautiful Dorset when I retired.
I always enjoyed drawing and painting as a child, but art took a back seat for many years as work, home and family took over my time. I always promised myself I would indulge my interest when I retired.
When I started painting again I took lessons locally for a time, but mainly I am self-taught. I paint mainly in oils, enjoying the texture and colours of this medium. I am attracted more by light, shadows and colour than by the subject matter. I have concentrated lately on still-life, but also enjoy painting flowers and domestic and indigenous wild animals.
My style is semi-Impressionism and hopefully I will achieve a greater sense of freedom in my work as I progress.
I am a member of Ringwood Art Society, and have exhibited in their annual show.
I have also had my own exhibitions in Honiton, Devon.
I have taken part at Salisbury hospital, Christchurch Red House and Regents Centre, and Verwood local exhibitions.
I have also painted various commissions.
