01 & 02 August (Postponed til 2021)
Opening Hours:

10am - 4pm

Buckler's Hard, New Forest, Hampshire, United Kingdom SO42 7XB
Event Description:
2020 Event Cancelled Due to Covid-19 Virus
It is with a heavy heart that we have taken the decision to cancel the Art by the River Buckler’s Hard event planned 1&2 August 2020. After discussions with the management team at Buckler’s Hard the general consensus was that in light of the concerns around the Covid 19 virus, and at this stage no knowing how long restrictions will be in place, it would be better to plan the event for 2021.

We hope you understand our concerns. We thank you for your interest in the event and look forward to picking up with you again when a new date has been decided for 2021.

In the meantime stay safe and let’s hope this all passes as quickly as possible.

Join us for a weekend celebration of art, dance, music and traditional crafts from across the New Forest, showcasing old-age skills and contemporary artwork alike.

Located on the banks of the beautiful Beaulieu River, browse works from painters, jewellery makers, ceramicists and more, before settling down to hear traditional and contemporary music from roaming buskers.

The New Forest has a history of traditional artisan crafts and skills, that were it not for a few dedicated artists, would be lost forever. Art by the River is an event where traditional skills will be embraced alongside more modern, current art, contemporary and new.

The New Forest has a wealth of accomplished artists, and this event be be an opportunity to showcase their work, and will include: traditional painters, ceramacists, jewellery makers, print makers, quilters, weavers and spinners, right through to the forgotten or lesser know crafts of the forest including: knotting, peg dollies, wood carving, whittling and manual lathe turning.

The event also includes a range of buskers to include modern and contemporary music through to traditional folk-singing and Morris dancing.

All located on the banks of the picturesque Beaulieu River in the heart of the New Forest.

Art by the River can be seen as part of a visit to the Buckler’s Hard Visitor Attraction. Admission tickets include entrance to the historic village and waterfront, Maritime Museum and Buckler’s Hard Story, the Shipwright's Cottage and all day car parking.
