Artisans by the River
‘Artisans by the River’ is back this year! This multi-cultural festival celebrates local and talented art, craft, music and drama over a 6 week period in the summer on the banks of the Lymington River. It is situated on the edge of the New Forest by the ferry terminal to the Isle of Wight and close to the trains that can bring you from London and other major cities in UK.
The local Mayor is scheduled to open this festival on Sunday 3rd June 2018 to a warm welcome by the Irish band ‘Celtic Knot’ at Bath Road Recreation Ground, Lymington, SO41 3SE. This spacious and scenic park with its own children’s playground is back drop to a different selection of artisans and musical entertainment every Sunday for 6 weeks. Entrance is free.
Each week approximately 30 artisan and refreshment stalls and up to 3 bands entertain you and celebrate local talent. Picnics in the park, children and grandparents enjoying the sunshine and fresh air on the banks of the Lymington River, a chance to buy many delightful items from the artisans to the sounds of live music and fresh refreshments in the English summer sun – what better way to spend your Sunday. Cycle down to join us, dog walkers welcome!
In addition, ‘Rain or Shine’ touring theatre company bring you their version of one of Shakespeare’s best loved comedies ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ on Sunday 24th June.
This alfresco summer theatre celebrates the 100 year anniversary of the cessation of WW1. Audiences are requested to bring their own picnics, chairs & picnic blankets, although limited refreshments will be available.
